Loft in the Community

LOFT Mission and Focus

Since 2005, LOFT has awarded nearly $575,000 in grants to many deserving non-profit, charitable organizations across Oxford and Lafayette County to fulfill the mission of LOFT to improve quality of life in Oxford and Lafayette County.  LOFT’s five areas of interest for awarding grants are arts and cultural, civic, educational, health and human services, and municipal initiatives.

LOFT Community Stewardship

The LOFT Board of Directors takes very seriously its obligation to ensure that our precious resources of grant funds are used in ways to provide tangible, sustainable benefits not only to those in need, but to our community as a whole.  Applicant projects must take place within Lafayette County, and grant decisions are made on the local level by the LOFT Board of Directors.

The Role of LOFT, Now and into the Future

In a time of fiscal uncertainty for many nonprofits, community foundations such as LOFT are an increasingly important partner in quality of life initiatives throughout the country.  Community foundations help to fill funding gaps within communities around the nation, and likewise, LOFT seeks to support organizations on the local level whose work is critical to the fabric of Lafayette county and Oxford communities.

LOFT Board of Directors member Mary Sharp Rayner says, “Each year, LOFT grants reach across Oxford and Lafayette County to fund outstanding projects that benefit us all.  The great thing about LOFT is that every gift to our endowment ensures the improvement of quality of life here, for both current and future generations.”
